12. Katyń Memorial, Jersey City

The Katyn memorial is a memorial built as a reminder of the victims of a massacre in 1940.

This bronze statue in Jersey City was dedicated to the victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre.

The Van Wagenen House, also known as the Apple Tree House, is located in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, near Bergen Square.

On August 16, 2006, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

People came from all over the surrounding country to collect pieces of its wood, which were then turned into treasured souvenirs.

Many trinkets were whittled from its branches by the clever youths of Bergen, and many apple tree presents must have been exchanged at the following Kerstija or Christmas time.

24. Weehawken Dueling Grounds

The Weehawken Dueling Grounds is the historic site of the famous Burr-Hamilton duel.

It was at this location that Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton in a wooded green space above the Hudson River in 1804.

Notably, a bust of Alexander Hamilton stands next to Hamilton Park.

It’s right next to the Hudson River, beneath the cliffs of the New Jersey Palisades.

Between 1700 and 1884, there were at least 18 known duels there, but it is best known for the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr in 1804.

Moreover, the duel between Burr and Hamilton is one of the most famous personal conflicts in American history.

Stories reveal that it was a pistol duel sparked by long-standing personal animosity between the two men over the course of several years.

25. Weehawken Water Tower

This famous Water Tower tells part of Jersey City’s history.

The Hackensack Water Company Complex is a collection of historic structures in Weehawken, New Jersey, that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Weehawken is known for its impressive waterfront views of Manhattan’s skyscraper-filled skyline. However, if you venture a little further inland, the town has its own impressive tower dominating the skyline.

The soaring Weehawken Water Tower now looms over a shopping mall and parking lot on Park Avenue just west of the waterfront, but it was once part of the Hackensack Water Company Complex.

In the complex’s only surviving remnant is a 175-foot tower that was built in 1883 and has an important architectural and engineering history.

Interestingly, this tower is called the most important structure of its kind in New Jersey by Engineering News and American Contract Journal.

Its name comes from the fact that it isn’t only a decorative addition to the complex but also a functional one.

If you explore inside, you will see a massive tank designed to hold approximately 150,000 gallons of water, as well as an engine room, offices, and staff living quarters.

Although it doesn’t really have much to see or do, you will find it informative hanging out here.

Big SNOW American Dream is a park for indoor skiing and snowboarding in Jersey City.

It is located within the American Dream shopping and entertainment complex at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Did you know that the Big Snow American Dream is North America’s first indoor ski park?

Additionally, exploring the snow here and skiing is something fun for tourists to do on a visit here.

Although the snow dome is currently closed, you can still go for retail shopping and winter tuning services.

If you are looking for an excellent location for a brisk walk, this is one!

You will wish you had found this place sooner.

It’s nice to get away from the city and just hang out in the meadowlands every now and then in this estuary park.

Moreover, in this location, there are a number of water trails; also, there are multiple interconnecting trails here where you can bike or walk.

Enjoy the cool breeze coming from this park while walking on the trails.

Additionally, the space here is completely open, airy, and windy.

There are also nice spots for relaxing, eating, or napping.

Overall, you can fish or watch people fishing here, but you must catch and release them because they are not edible, as stated on one of the boards.
