The Worcester Art Museum is a fantastic art museum with an array of well-organized paintings, sculptures, relics, and special exhibits. It collects architecture, paintings gained from Monet and Gauguin and presents photography as an art form.

It is always a fun place for a local visit with your family. And the most amazing part is, if you are a New England Museum Association (NEMA) member, you can visit the Worcester Art Museum for free plus one guest.

The Worcester Art Museum has a huge variety of art; from ancient, to a small selection of modern art, you can explore. There is everything from Greco to Warhol here.

Above all, the seating in some galleries is unique and a work of art themselves.

There is also a small cafe area and lots of accessible bathrooms.

Great place for an art fan to spend a couple of hours since there’s a lovely Mosaic courtyard with special exhibitions.!!!

The EcoTarium, formerly known as the New England Science Center, is a science and nature museum sited in Worcester, Massachusetts. It’s a mix of the Children’s Museum with the Museum of Science and very interesting sites.

This is a fun, hands-on science and natural history museum for elementary-aged children and there are lots to do outside as well as a bubble exhibit and a play space for the kids.

There is a train with train crossings. The EcoTarium is one of the most beautiful places in Worcester to bring kids of 2-14yrs. It’s got a great variety of activities, things to see indoors and outdoors, as well as mini hiking trails they’ll enjoy walking on.

However, there is also an exceptional-looking planetarium, too. Reasonable entrance fee and tons of fun activities for everyone.

You can plan birthday parties here and make sure the kids have a blast since the staffs are extremely helpful in planning activities.

Above all, you can also check out the newish mountain lion cubs. The otter is also fun; the train is awesome the playground is huge and there’s more fun stuff inside the museum.

Tower Hill Botanic Garden is a 171-acre botanic garden and arboretum located in Boylston, Massachusetts, approximately 8 miles (13 km) north of central Worcester in Worcester County, Massachusetts.

The Stoddard Education and Visitors Center is the hub for visitor activities at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden and one of the fun places to see.

Ranging from complex houses to the Farmer & The Fork café, a garden Shop, a 100-seat theater, four classrooms, and conference space.

There is also the Tower Hill Library with horticulture, gardening, and botany books, magazines, DVDs, and archival materials.

Quite a perfect venue for weddings and parties, also the events team is top-notch, or just escaping life’s busyness.!!! I would highly recommend a wedding ceremony in the Secret Garden.

Interestingly, they also have wine nights on Thursdays in the summer. You can enjoy their Night Lights display. Their timed admission system works well with the crowd just at a level that allows for social distancing. It’s a complete paradise you should explore.

Amazingly, so many parts of the complex are handicapped-accessible. It is a beautiful environment that has both leisure and educational value; so, it is suitable for families and a welcoming place across the generational spectrum.

Ski Ward Ski Area is a small ski area located in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

The ward has nine trails covering a vertical drop of approximately 220 feet. The summit is served by a triple chairlift and T-bar, while the beginner area has a handle tow and carpet lift.

There is a lodge with a bar and grill where you can enjoy hygienic delicious food. There are also great restrooms, guest services, rental shop, and ski patrol first aid room.

A perfect fun place for fangirls of Wellesley High School and Westwood High School since they hold their Ski Team practices at Ward and the hill hosts both practices and races on White Out almost every day of the week.

It is a real gem if you have kids who are learning to ski or snowboard. Also, a wonderful place for recreation, especially during winter when there’s snow, one can go on skiing and gliding.

Artificial snow is also pumped in to make skiing and gliding even more enjoyable. It also has a safe giving room for fun with great lessons and plenty of car parking area. It is a great place to enjoy with family and friends and good for an outing for kids.

6. Worcester Historical Museum

The Worcester Historical Museum, located in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts, was founded in 1875 as the Worcester Society of Antiquity.

Great for a post-lunch afternoon activity. Anyone in Worcester County should go see it – only takes about 1-2 hours to go through.

They have one room that is suitable for younger children and a register that you could push a button on and the price for a cup of coffee would be displayed.

There are also three different payphones mounted on a wall that showed the progression of the phone over the years. You’ll find jukeboxes that will allow you to listen to different music from artists that were from Worcester.

You can visit the For the Record GLBQ+ Exhibit since it is easy to get to. Temporary exhibits are right off the lobby and are easy to find. Well-lit and spacious halls. Great local museum. A real treasure!

It’s an enjoyable place; therefore, if you have the time, I recommend a visit to the Worcester Historical Museum.

7. Elm Park

Elm Park originally comprised the land bordered by Park Avenue, Russell Street, Elm Street, and Highland Street.

The park contains meandering walking paths through the landscaping of a pond crossed by two iconic footbridges. There’s also a playground where proposals can take place and birthday parties are held for kids.

The Newton Hill portion of Elm Park (west of Park Avenue) contains basketball and tennis courts where you can keep kids engaged. You can also play a game of tennis with your partner here for relaxation.

There are walking trails and also Doherty Memorial High School, a high school within the Worcester Public Schools system, where you can explore or take a few classes if you want to.

Often musical concerts are held every summer, as well as rotating sculpture shows.

This would give you a picture of the environment. Imagine children with families in the playground. Nearby are two tables of mature men playing dominoes. Friends together walk several winding paths along with small bridges to cross over lakes.

8. Mass Audubon’s Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary

Mass Audubon was established in 1990. It is located in the headwater region of the Blackstone River Watershed. It is said to be the largest urban wildlife sanctuary in New England.

You can do bird watching, but the frog ponds are also adorable.

9. Quinsigamond State Park

Quinsigamond State Park is a public recreation area comprising two day-use areas along the western shore of Lake Quinsigamond in the city of Worcester.

There is a magnificent view of the bridge across Lake Quinsigamond to the south of the park. The bridge is also lit beautifully at night. Some houses on the other side of the lake make for some pretty night shots across the lake suitable for engagement pictures, nature photography, or asking a lover out.

There is an internationally known 2,000-meter rowing course and is one of the oldest competition rowing sites in the country where you can explore or write a detailed science project on.

It has beautiful scenery, and it seems to be a popular spot for photographers, professional and amateur alike. It isn’t handicap-friendly since the trail is too steep to navigate.

You can, however, still have a lovely view from where ever you are.

11. Green Hill Park

Green Hill Park is a large public park in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is the largest in Worcester city. The park covers over 480 acres (1.9 km2).

If you’re a patriot or history student, you can explore here to check out the Vietnam memorial.

The entire park has taken on such a beautiful look and new meaning.

There the pillar memorials in the park showing beautiful letters of fallen soldiers who wrote home to their families while they were in Nam.

The park shows the sacrifices Vietnam soldiers have done and continue doing. If you’re writing a project on the Vietnam era and need some clues, you can pick up a little here.

Also, the views are quite nice and are a lovely place to look down on the pond and see fall colors reflected in the water.

It is a family-friendly area for relaxation and family games. There is also a golf course, but be careful not to wander onto it, and watch kids.

You can also find a farm on-site, although small but great for toddlers and grade school kids.

It has a very nice green space in the city, ideal for a picnic or game of Frisbee.

There are also lots of hikes and jogging trails. You can enjoy the early fall in this way.

From the summit, one can also gain spectacular views of Downtown Worcester, which is a recommended destination for enjoying the outdoors for an afternoon.

Moore State Park is a 737-acre (298 ha) public recreation area located in the town of Paxton, just about 14 minutes’ drive from Worcester.

Park recreational opportunities you and your family can enjoy in Moore State Park include canoeing, fishing, and hunting if you’re looking for activities to kill the boredom or have a quiet time.

You can also go on cross-country skiing and picnicking. Picnics are wonderful in this area since the scenery is very beautiful and conducive and you don’t have to bother so much about the kids.

There are also Interpretive programs, and concerts held here in a season which you can attend. This promises to be fun.

You can also see beautiful views of fall foliage around the reservoir, with very convenient parking on-site, full of scenery and wildlife.

Arts Worcester has a gallery of varied works in the 1923 building. When exhibitions are on view, their galleries are open between 12-5 pm.

The facility and lighting are top-notch and the staff are wonderful. It is a wonderful space for creative individuals and artists. If you need time to relax, reset your mind to table rasa, and think about creating content, this might give you an idea.

Arts Worcester’s walls are also lined with lots of beautiful art pieces and there’s always something interesting and thought-provoking on display.

The staff are helpful and welcoming, so you don’t have to bother about rude and unwelcoming people. Worcester is full of creative people and it shows!

Lake Quinsigamond (also Long Pond) is a body of water situated between the city of Worcester and the town of Shrewsbury in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States.

Do you know, Lake Quinsigamond hosts 8 islands with the majority owned by private citizens?

You’ll love the walking trails; a section goes around the lake and through the woods. One can enjoy watching jet skis and speed boats with family.

You can also afford to get boat ramps and also have tranquil parts if you want to get away from boat traffic or present an on-sea surprise to your lover. There are places to stop for ice cream, bathrooms, etc.

There is also a beautiful 7-mile-long lake, good for swimming, boating, jet skiing, and a place to watch the boat races.

The Regatta point and lake park are very good stopping points for walking, swimming, sports, cookouts, etc.

You have to come here if you would like to visit Regatta Point Yacht Club.

There is also a small sandy beach with an even smaller swimming area and lifeguards on duty.

The highlight to me was their picnic grove. There are lots of tables, very few grills, all under some majestic oak trees. So, you have the option of a sunny table or a shady table. All are next to the beach.

Although they have limited hours, it is also best for a weekend stop since new shows open every month

You can find painting, photography, mixed media, modern, representative, conceptual, solo, and group exhibits. You can also shoot music videos or movies here since its scenery is amazing.

The receptions are a great way to network with local artists and art lovers. Take your partner or family here on a whim and discovered a truly incredible place.

In short, the gallery is stunning, and exhibits have visual pieces of huge variety plus plenty of interactive art that will appeal to you.

It’s also home to the Worcester County Poetry Association and host to several community events.

So, if you love poetry or you want to meet great poets, make sure to check this place out. I’d recommend it to students majoring in literature.

The Willard House and Clock Museum are located at the former farm homestead of the Willard brothers (Benjamin, Simon, Ephraim, and Aaron) in Worcester.

There are over 80 Willard clocks showcasing the workmanship of all the members of the family in the trade. If you have a strong liking for clocks, then you can see amazing clocks here.

Maybe you could even find one that’ll take you back in time, like Alice in wonderland.

There is also a small gift shop with a small Willard-centric library open to museum members by appointment.

You can get gifts at affordable rates. Who knows, you could pick up something you’ve been searching everywhere for. You can also visit the library to make research if you’re working on a project.

It is an excellent tour for adults and young people as it accompanies you on travel back in time, in the origins of watches, as the basis of Willard’s life. It is a great place to introduce kids to the origin of watchmaking.

There is excellent monitoring and guidance of the patient and cheerful monitors, who interact well with the various rooms of the house, so they can show you around.

So, if you’re already interested in early American clocks, this place is a Mecca. If you’re not, it is a great glimpse into the life of a turn of the 19th century family of tradesmen.

A hidden gem with high-end and handmade art and gifts, but they don’t advertise much. If you’re a Potter or interested in learning and exploring ceramics, glass, metals, and photography, then there is no better place to be but here.

You’ll also enjoy exploring here since this is a great place to view creative arts and also create your own with a large array of classes. This is a gem!

The Salisbury House is a historic house at 61 Harvard Street in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The Greek Revival building was constructed between 1836 and 1838 by Stephen Salisbury II, son of Worcester merchant Stephen Salisbury I, whose 18th-century mansion stands nearby.

If you are interested in history and ancient guidelines in the Elite Worcester, it promises a very nice tour and guide of an excellent restoration of elite Worcester history.

Wonderful to go for a run-around, but some spots are not recognizable. You could jog around with your family and stretch those worked out bones. Elementary students can also go on excursions here.

Its most accessible form, through the architecture, furnishings, and the story of the people who lived and worked there, from 1772 to 1851.

Handicaps are accessible for the most part. An outstanding place to hang out with your family or sight-seeing since it has a good view of the mountains as well from behind the parking area.

Its neat little structure surrounds a lovely residential neighborhood and is also great for walking and cycling destinations.

The surrounding land is just too perfect for picnics and hangouts.

The Old Stone Church is located in West Boylston, about 9 miles from Worcester. The Old Stone Church is the last relic of the town which was once in the valley but was now flooded by the new reservoir.

The inside is nothing to talk about. But the outside sure is fantastic in its architecture and visual excitement.

The hiking trails around it are a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. The only issue is the lack of parking.

It’s a photographer’s paradise and if you go during the week, there is usually no one there, so you can take a lot of creative pictures! It is super clean, which is refreshing, therefore a great place for some fun photos and a picnic.

This place is also a perfect spot for fishing apparently, and it is a pretty fine spot for outdoor wedding photos as well.

Above all, it has a beautiful and relaxing environment, making it a great place for families and friends. You can consider setting up a tent if you want a nice view of sunset and sunrise.

Dean Park offers 79 acres and 1.8 miles of interconnecting walks. The most well-known paved walking area in Shrewsbury. It also has one main wooded trail and a few informal trails.

The pond and mature woods are pleasant for easy strolling, running, biking, and relaxing. The entrance is on Main Street, and there are plenty of parking and tables for fun picnics.

There are also Urban recreational sites with a pond and lots of trails to walk, plenty of ballparks, a jungle gym, and wildlife.

The trees are beautiful, overlooking the pond at this time of year.

You should take the kids or pets for a walk by the water. There is the main pond with so many geese whom you can see throughout the year.

And yes, you can go around the pond, and it is very relaxing. The only downside visible is that parts of the park road are narrow and are shared by car and pedestrians. This calls for a lot of caution while walking with kids.

The Kid’s playground is okay, Tennis, playground, basketball court, volleyball court, baseball ground is busy as per the season.

You have enough benches and a picnic area where you can relax and slow down a bit in your busy life. The long trees thought out of the park, quickly help you with that. The park is well maintained and has three separate parking areas.

Cascading water is a great place to grab a short hike in what feels like a very remote area and if you only want to see the waterfall, it’s about 100 yards from the Cascading Waters trailhead parking lot, then it’s no big deal.

This trail has some roots and rocks on it, so be aware as you walk. It’s easy to trip up because of the leaves covering them, but you’d enjoy walking through them or holding picnics.

The Cascade Waters parking is small and can hold about 6 small Shore Park (115 Shore Drive).

Another fun fact is that this beach is open to the public from July 1 to late August and offers a lifeguard from noon to 7 pm.

The Morgan Landing (Grove Street) of the park does not offer a public beach, but it offers boating, so you can opt for boat rides or quiet talks with family during visits. It sure is a good outdoor recreation area.

You can have a lot of fun since it is open for 24 hours. It is beautiful and very peaceful.

I’d recommend coming here if you need some thinking time alone time, or just somewhere to smoke an L with your friends!

26. Indian Lake

Indian Lake, also known as North Pond, is located in northern Worcester, Massachusetts.

You’d love to check out her water, which is brownish and is only transparent up to only five feet. If you’re into marine explorations, then you can have a lot of fun exploring the amazing characteristics of this lake.

If you’re very lucky, you could find seashells and amazing fossils by the banks.

The mean and maximum depths are 8 and 15 feet (2.4 and 4.6 m) respectively. There is muck and rock at the bottom of the lake.

In the Shore Park (115 Shore Drive) there is also a 5-acre (2.0 ha) beach that is open to the public from the 1st of July till late August and offers a lifeguard from noon to 7 pm.

You could hold candle processions, play beach ball, or hold surprise parties.

However, the Morgans Landing in (Grove Street) does not offer a public beach, but it offers boating. So, you can go on boat rides and see the amazing scenery.
